Narita Airport Guide to Moving Between Terminals and Connections

Reliability: Low · Last checked: 2026-07-28

Where Terminals 1, 2 and 3 are in relation to each other, how to move between them by free shuttle bus or on foot, and what to watch out for when connecting.

How the Terminals Are Laid Out

  • Terminal 1: The station is Narita Airport Station. ANA, Star Alliance airlines and others.
  • Terminal 2: The station is Airport Terminal 2 Station. JAL, oneworld airlines and others.
  • Terminal 3: For LCCs only. It has no station; the nearest is Airport Terminal 2 Station.

Note: Airlines sometimes change terminals. Always check your ticket and your airline's information.

Getting Between Terminals

  1. Free shuttle bus — Loops around the terminals, every few minutes to every 15 minutes or so.
  2. On foot (Terminal 2 ⇔ Terminal 3) — About 13 minutes through the connecting passage (from the Airport Terminal 2 Station ticket gate to the Terminal 3 2F departure lobby, per the official guide; may change due to construction).

Points to Note When Connecting

  • For a connection between different terminals, allow at least 2–3 hours for the move, checking in again and security.
  • With separate tickets, your bags often cannot be checked through, so you need to collect them and check in again.
  • Terminal 3 is far from the stations, and it is easy to forget the time it takes on foot or by shuttle bus. Leave plenty of time.
