Spending the Night at Narita Airport (Airport Overnight Guide)

Reliability: Medium · Last checked: 2026-10-03

Your options for getting through the night at Narita — the floors open 24 hours, Nine Hours and NODOKA (open 24 hours) — and what to watch out for.

In short

You can stay overnight inside the terminals at Narita Airport, and sleeping at the airport is common, especially among passengers on late-night and early-morning LCC flights. To spend nothing, use the floors open 24 hours; for more comfort, Nine Hours Narita Airport and Airport Cafe NODOKA in Terminal 2 are the options.

Floors Open 24 Hours

These are the floors the airport officially lists as open 24 hours. Floors not listed here close late at night (roughly 24:00–5:00).

  • Terminal 1: 1F (international arrivals, domestic departures), B1F
  • Terminal 2: 2F (domestic arrivals), 1F (international arrivals, domestic departures), B1F
  • Terminal 3: 2F (international and domestic departures), 1F (international and domestic arrivals)

In Terminal 3 both the departure and arrival floors are open 24 hours, which makes it the usual place for LCC passengers to sleep at the airport.

Your options

  1. Nine Hours Narita Airport (B1F of Parking Building 2, directly connected to Terminal 2; 24-hour reception) — A capsule hotel. Besides overnight stays, day use (napping) is ¥1,500 for the first hour (then ¥500 per hour) and shower only is ¥1,000 for up to 1 hour. Overnight and day-use guests can shower for free. Check-out is at 10:00. It can be fully booked on the day, so booking ahead is recommended for overnight stays
  2. Airport Cafe NODOKA (Terminal 2, Main Building, 2F, before security; open 24 hours) — A café and rest facility charged by time. It has reclining seats, mat seating and an artificial-grass area, plus separate shower rooms for men and women and free soft drinks. No reservation is needed, and you may bring your own food and drinks
  3. Benches and rest spaces in the terminals — Free. You wait on the 24-hour floors above. The lights and announcements stay on, so an eye mask and earplugs help you rest
  4. Refresh Rooms (after passport control in Terminals 1 and 2) — They have nap rooms, but close by 21:30 at the latest, so you cannot use them late at night

Places to Eat Late at Night

Open 24 hours: Lawson on B1F of Terminal 1; Yoshinoya in the Main Building of Terminal 2; and Lawson and Matsuya in Terminal 3 (all before security). The 24-hour 7-Eleven on B1F of Terminal 2 is temporarily closed (Narita Airport's official shop page, as of October 2026).

Points to Note

  • The airport officially notes that cleaning or construction work may take place late at night and early in the morning. It is not necessarily a quiet place to rest
  • The areas open overnight and how they are run may change. Follow the signs and staff on site
  • You are responsible for your valuables. Do not leave your bags unattended
