Kansai Airport Airline Lounge and Membership Lounge Guide
Reliability: Medium · Last checked: 2026-08-06
The airline lounges at Kansai Airport (KIX Lounge Premium / KIX Lounge KANSAI / Lounge KANSAI) and the membership lounge SOUTH LOUNGE, with hours, facilities and who can get in. Also explains how the Sakura Lounge and ANA LOUNGE came to close.
In short
Kansai Airport has no lounges run by the airlines themselves. JAL's Sakura Lounge closed on March 26, 2025 and the ANA LOUNGE on May 31, 2025, and both were consolidated into KIX Lounge Premium and KIX Lounge KANSAI, run by Kansai Airports (both on Terminal 1, 3F, in the center of the international gate area). On the domestic side there is Lounge KANSAI on 3F, and for corporate members there is SOUTH LOUNGE. For lounges you can enter with a card (NORTH LOUNGE and NODOKA), see "Kansai Airport Card Lounges and Priority Pass Facilities".
Who this is for
- People looking for a lounge they can use with elite status or a premium-class boarding pass
- People looking for the "Sakura Lounge" or "ANA Lounge" and unable to find it
- People counting on a lounge shower or private room
- People who want to use a lounge before an early-morning domestic flight
The Sakura Lounge and ANA LOUNGE No Longer Exist
Older articles and round-up sites may still list JAL's Sakura Lounge, the ANA LOUNGE and the KAL Lounge at Kansai Airport. The current situation is:
- JAL Sakura Lounge: Closed after the last flight departed on March 26, 2025. From the next day, March 27, eligible members and travel classes use KIX Lounge Premium instead (Japan Airlines official notice)
- ANA LOUNGE: Closed on May 31, 2025. From June 1, ANA passengers use KIX Lounge Premium / KIX Lounge Kansai instead (ANA official)
KIX Lounge Premium (Terminal 1, 3F, International)
6:30–0:30 (next day). A higher-grade lounge with 143 seats over 800㎡.
- 2 shower booths, 1 massage chair, 1 private room (10 seats)
- 2 phone booths, a nursing room, a smoking room, 12 lockers with doors and a staffed bar
- Meals are both made to order and buffet. Halal food is also available
Who can get in depends on the airline. For JAL, everyone eligible uses this lounge (JMB Diamond, JGC Premier, JMB Sapphire, JAL Global Club, and First / Business / Premium Economy / Economy on Flex Y fares; flights to Korea and Guam are excluded). For ANA, only Diamond Service members and Lounge Access Card holders use it; Business Class passengers and Platinum and SFC members use KIX Lounge KANSAI, below.
KIX Lounge KANSAI (Terminal 1, 3F, International)
The largest lounge at Kansai Airport, with 658 seats over 2,970㎡.
- Shower rooms (including a wheelchair-accessible booth), 2 massage chairs, 3 private rooms (10 seats each)
- 8 phone booths, 2 online meeting booths, a family room, a nursing room, a smoking room and 60 lockers with doors
- A buffet (with halal food; some alcoholic drinks cost extra) and a duty-free delivery service (9:00–17:00; order by 90 minutes before departure)
Hours are roughly 6:00–2:15 (next day), but it opens when the security checkpoint opens and closes at the scheduled departure time of the last regular flight using the lounge, so the times vary by day.
For ANA, Business Class passengers and Diamond, Platinum, Super Flyers and Star Alliance Gold members are eligible.
Lounge KANSAI (Terminal 1, 3F, Domestic)
From 5:30 until the last flight departs. About 140 seats, all non-smoking, with soft drinks, alcoholic drinks, Wi-Fi and restrooms. It is shared by passengers eligible for the ANA and JAL lounges. Its advantage is that it is open for early-morning domestic flights too.
SOUTH LOUNGE (Terminal 1, 3F, International)
The lounge of Global Business Club (GBC), a membership service for companies. 8:00–22:00 (last entry 21:30). It has a wall of glass, a buffet of hot and cold meals and desserts, a draft beer tap, free shower rooms and its own smoking room.
GBC members can use it only when flying long-haul (nonstop) flights (to the US mainland, Canada, Europe, Moscow, the Middle East, Australia, New Zealand and New Caledonia; charter flights excluded), and KIX Lounge Premium is not included. It was renamed from "Airside Lounge" on April 1, 2026.
If You Want a Shower
If you are eligible for a lounge, you can use the showers in KIX Lounge Premium, KIX Lounge KANSAI or SOUTH LOUNGE. If not, you will use a paid shower room (Terminal 1 international gate area, ¥800 for 15 minutes; NODOKA in Aeroplaza, ¥1,400 for 40 minutes, 24 hours). For details, see "Kansai Airport Showers and Baths Guide".
No Lounges in Terminal 2
Terminal 2 (LCC) has no lounge. The official lounge list only covers Terminal 1 and Aeroplaza. If you need somewhere to settle in early in the morning or late at night, consider NODOKA on Aeroplaza 2F (open 24 hours, with showers).
Notes
- The lounges listed here are entered by travel class, elite status or a membership service. Paid entry is not available
- For details of the entry conditions, the Kansai International Airport official site refers you to each airline
- KIX Lounge KANSAI and Lounge KANSAI close in line with the day's last flight, so their closing times are not fixed
- Hours, facilities and entry conditions may change
