Haneda Airport Smoking Area Guide
Reliability: Medium · Last checked: 2026-08-08
Where Haneda Airport's smoking rooms are and how many there are, by terminal and before or after security.
In short
Haneda has many smoking rooms before security and few after security. Before security there are 32 across the three terminals. After security, Terminal 1 has 3, Terminal 2 has 3 on the domestic side and 1 on the international side, and Terminal 3 has 2 on 1F and 6 in the after-passport-control area on 3F. The sure option is to smoke before you go through security. Smoking is prohibited everywhere in the terminals except the designated smoking rooms.
Who this is for
- People looking for a place to smoke before departure or after arrival
- People who want to know whether they can smoke after security
- People staying in the public area to see someone off or meet someone
Terminal 1 (Domestic)
Before security (8): 1F (2), 2F (2), 3F, 4F, 5F, 6F (1 each). There are 2 each in the arrival lobby and the departure lobby.
After security (3): 3 in the restricted area on 2F. Terminal 1 is for domestic flights only, so there is no international side.
Terminal 2 (Domestic and International)
Before security (11): B1F (1), 1F (2), 2F (1), 3F (3), 4F (2), 5F (2). This is the area with the most smoking rooms at Haneda.
After security
- Domestic restricted area: 3 on 2F
- International restricted area: only 1, on 2F
International flights also leave from Terminal 2, not only domestic ones. If you are flying internationally, there is only 1 in the restricted area, so it is safer to smoke before security.
Terminal 3 (International)
Before security (13): 1F (6), 2F (2), 3F (2), 4F (2), 5F (1). These are also the ones to use if you are spending time at Edo Koji on 4F or on the observation deck on 5F.
After security
- 1F: 1 in the domestic transfer lobby in the restricted area, and 1 in the departure area
- 3F: 6 in the after-passport-control area
3F after passport control has the most smoking rooms of any restricted area at Haneda.
Notes
- You can smoke only in the designated smoking rooms. Smoking is prohibited everywhere in the terminals except the designated smoking rooms
- The official site does not list hours or fees for the smoking rooms. We treat them as following the terminal's operating hours
- Locations and numbers may change due to renovation work and so on. Also check the signs on the day
- Haneda Airport's official site does not say whether there are rooms for heated tobacco only
- Depending on your gate, the nearest smoking room may be some distance away. Allow time for the round trip so you are not late for boarding
