Haneda Airport Currency Exchange, ATM, and Cash Preparation Guide

Terminal 3 has a 24-hour currency exchange and ATMs that operate 24 hours. If you need cash for early morning or late-night flights, Terminal 3 is the option. In contrast, the currency exchange offices in Terminals 1 and 2 mainly operate during the day, and there is only one staffed bank counter in Terminal 1 (weekdays only). If you are departing from the domestic terminal early in the morning, it is advisable to prepare cash in advance.

Currency Exchange (Before Passport Control / After Immigration)

• Terminal 1: Travelex (1F Arrival Lobby, 9:00–19:00)
• Terminal 2: SBJ Bank (1F Domestic Arrival Lobby, 9:00–18:00), Japan Airport Terminal currency exchange, International Departure Lobby (3F, 6:30–22:00)
• Terminal 3: Japan Airport Terminal currency exchange, Arrival Lobby (2F, 24 hours), and its Departure Lobby branch (3F, 24 hours)

Currency Exchange (After Passport Control)

• Terminal 2: SBJ Bank (2F International Gate Area, 7:00–15:30), Travelex (3F International Departure Area, 7:00–23:00)
• Terminal 3: SBJ Bank (3F After Passport Control Area, 24 hours), Travelex (3F After Passport Control Area, 5:30–25:30, i.e. until 1:30 the next morning)

Handling Leftover Foreign Currency and Coins

There are currency exchange machines called "Pocket Change" that can convert foreign currency to electronic money, located on the arrival side of each terminal.

3. Terminal 3 2F Arrival Lobby (24 hours)

ATMs

• The best option for late-night and early-morning is Terminal 3. ATMs from Mizuho Bank, Japan Post Bank, Mitsubishi UFJ Bank, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, and Resona Bank are available on the 2F Arrival Lobby or 3F Departure Lobby, and the official website states they operate 24 hours (each bank has monthly downtime).
• Seven Bank ATMs are available in Terminals 1 to 3, most operating from 5:00 to 24:00.
• The staffed bank counter is only at Mizuho Bank in the 1F Arrival Lobby of Terminal 1, operating from 9:00 to 11:00 and 12:00 to 15:00 (closed on weekends and holidays).

• According to the official website, ATMs in the international area after passport control only allow withdrawals in ¥1,000 units, up to ¥30,000 per transaction.
• ATM operating hours and monthly downtime are specifically set by each bank. If you plan to use them late at night or early in the morning, please check each bank's information in advance.
