New Chitose Airport Smoking Area Guide
Reliability: Medium · Last checked: 2026-09-22
Where New Chitose Airport's smoking areas are and how many there are, by domestic and international terminal and by before or after security.
In short
New Chitose Airport has 11 smoking areas in the domestic terminal and 4 in the international terminal (counted from the smoking room symbols on the official floor guide). What stands out is that there are none in the Domestic 2F departures lobby (before security), or in the International 2F arrivals lobby and 3F departures lobby. To smoke before security, go to 1F, 3F or 4F in the domestic terminal, or 1F in the international terminal. After security there are 5 in the domestic 2F departure gate area and 3 in the international 3F departure gate area, so there is no need to rush a cigarette before security. There are also smoking rooms inside the Super Lounge (3F and 4F), the JAL Sakura Lounge and the Royal Lounge.
Who this is for
- People looking for a place to smoke after arrival or before departure

International Terminal

There is also a smoking room inside the Royal Lounge (airline lounge) on 4F.

Notes
- The official website has no text page listing smoking areas; they are counted from the symbols on the official floor guide (as of September 17, 2026) and the web floor map. Which gates they are near is read from the drawings, not from signs
- The official information does not say whether they are for cigarettes or heated tobacco
- Smoking areas before security follow the terminal opening hours (domestic 5:00–23:30, international 5:00–21:00)
